Dr. Sandra E. Jones, Executive Director

Dr. Sandra E. Jones retired from the faculty of the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2015. She specialized in African American and women’s literature, literary criticism and theory. Jones also taught courses in African American life and history.

Born in Milwaukee, Jones has been active in the community in a variety of areas. She served as a commissioner on the Milwaukee Social Development Commission’s Board of Commissioners and on the Advisory Board of Public Allies Milwaukee.

She looks forward to joining the Victory Garden Initiative team to fulfill its mission: “To create a community-based, socially just, environmentally sustainable, nutritious food system for all.”

Aaron Wynn, Farm Manager

Aaron comes to VGI with 18+ years experience as a farm manager in both vegetable and hemp production. Originally from Milwaukee, Aaron spent many years in Colorado and California managing hemp farms before returning to Milwaukee to begin his own farm business. He joined VGI in 2020 as the new Farm Manager and is looking forward to giving food away for free to the community and helping build an equitable food system in Harambee.

Sinceree Dixon, Volunteer Programs Coordinator

Sinceree is a graduate of UW-Milwaukee, with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Sinceree grew up in the 53206 zip code of Milwaukee, WI and has remained a Milwaukee resident ever since.

Her upbringing exemplified the merging of two cultures, having an African American father and Native American mother. Sinceree is an enrolled tribal member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. Her unique upbringing contributes to her passion for community outreach and contributing towards the fight for social justice.

As a mother of two, Sinceree stays busy outside of work with activities such as playing basketball, taking road trips, and instilling strong moral values in her children.
