What is the Blitz?
Garden Bed Installation
Our team of dedicated volunteers will deliver, assemble and install garden beds in the designated areas by registrants (residencies, business corporations, schools, etc.). We anticipate installing 400 garden beds this next season!
Registration Includes:
Garden box: 8ft. x 4ft. x 10in. (lwh) wooden box from untreated pine.
Landscape barrier: burlap sacks or plain cardboard acts as a barrier between the soil and the ground.
Organic soil: supplied by Blue Ribbon Organics, 1 cubic yard of their garden mix will be included in installation.
Seeds: to get you started! (seed preference can not be accommodated)
Soil Refill
Already have a garden bed? Sign up to get a soil refill for your next season of growing food! We anticipate to refill 200 garden beds with organic soil.

Why We Do The Blitz.
CONNECTION
The Harambee Neighborhood, where we are headquartered, is a food desert. We fight against food insecurity for every individual in our network. We can’t do it alone. The Great Milwaukee Garden Blitz serves to connect communities with each other. Primarily, our focus is to heal communities through agriculture; to empower others to
GROW THEIR OWN FOOD.
WELLNESS
Integration of a secure food system, mental wellness, and healthy living are promoted by the Great Milwaukee Garden Blitz. We want people to be well and have agency towards a life with longevity. Home gardening benefits the body with healthy growing and consumption with hands-on activity that revitalizes the mind.
ACTION
We are here to give people access to grow food and secure their families by providing nutritious meals, garden-to-table, at affordable prices. Hands in our organic soil cultivating fresh crops and produce builds a more resilient food system for all of Milwaukee
one garden at a time.
