4H Meeting

Discover how your youth, as well as your family, can embark on a rewarding journey of gardening, sustainability, and community involvement. The Victory Garden Initiative empowers families to grow their own food, promoting healthy living and environmental stewardship. Additionally, the 4-H Program offers diverse opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, explore new interests, and make lifelong friends through hands-on projects and activities. Youth aged 5 years through high school are welcome to join 4-H. There are no memberships dues. We look forward to seeing you there and starting this exciting adventure together!

Blitz Registration Opens

Blitz Registration Opens

Registration Day officially opens our Great Milwaukee Blitz program! On this day, community members can purchase and register to receive a raised garden bed installed at their property.

Important Details:

  • Beds are available first come, first served until we run out.

  • No holds.

  • No registering on behalf of someone else.

  • You must own the land or have permission from the property owner.

Installation Schedule:
Installations will take place by ZIP code between April 25 and May 9. While we organize installations by area, we cannot guarantee a specific date, as all builds depend on volunteer availability and daily completion rates.

The Great Milwaukee Blitz

The Great Milwaukee Garden Blitz sparked the creation of Victory Garden Initiative and remains the embodiment of our mission: building a community powered, community run food system rooted in connection, wellness, and action.

During this time our team of dedicated volunteers will deliver, assemble and install garden beds in the designated areas by registrants (residencies, business corporations, schools, etc.). We anticipate installing 400 garden beds this season!

2025 Blitz Community Town Hall

Please join us for a community gathering to learn more about the Victory Garden Initiative and get signed up to have a garden bed built in your own backyard! The Annual 2025 Garden Blitz and the growing season is upon us, and we want to share what all is happening AND hear what you would like to see us growing and doing.


Everyone will have the opportunity to share ideas and ask questions. We'll also serve a light lunch and have activities for the kids.

Join us to hear from our VGI 4H Leaders as well as our 4-H Program Coordinator with the UW-Madison Extension office of Milwaukee County. Ask questions, and see how the soon-to-be-established Victory Garden Initiative 4H Club can benefit your family. Your input will help guide the direction of 4H with VGI.

Gather & Gobble 2024

In celebration of the holiday season kickoff, we are serving a Thanksgiving-style meal and giving away 150 turkeys! The meal will have all the Thanksgiving essentials, best of all, TURKEY. Come gather in celebration of the month. To-go containers will be provided for those who rather dine at home. Turkeys will be given on a first come, first served basis. We'll be glad to see you on Saturday November 23.
